AirPortr, the London based travel technology start-up, in partnership with British Airways, has today launched AirPortr + Bag Check-In, a ‘game-changing’ new service for airline customers, which allows them to check in their luggage from anywhere in London.
AirPortr brings the check-in desk experience to every customers’ home, hotel lobby or desk in the City. AirPortr + Bag Check-In allows those travelling with British Airways to travel straight through the airport completely luggage free until they reach baggage reclaim at their destination airport.
The new service is a major evolution in the passenger air travel experience. British Airways customers flying from London can, for the first time, avoid the conundrum of what to do with bags when faced with a late flight or early hotel check-out. It will also allow them to squeeze in that extra business meeting or go last minute gift shopping. Equally, passengers can wave goodbye to the stress of dragging heavy luggage onto the tube, bus or train during rush hour and arrive at the airport calm, relaxed and ready to start their holiday.
Philip Osmond, British Airways’ director of airport transformation said: “we are always looking at innovative ways in which to give our customers more choice and improve their journeys. We are excited to launch this exclusive service, delivered by AirPortr, which will offer an even smoother travel experience.”
Randel Darby, AirPortr CEO, said: “Our vision is to transform the way we travel and AirPortr + Bag Check-In is a game changer in international travel. It is the next step in our range of services aimed to make air travel more convenient and stress free. We are delighted to be launching this service exclusively with British Airways in London, better connecting our city with global business and tourism.”
Mr Darby continued: “The one element of air travel that remained stuck in the 20th century was luggage and how to make the travel process more seamless for passengers. That is the problem we have sought to address. I am thrilled AirPortr + Bag Check-In is able to offer an accessible yet innovative service that benefits smart travellers.”
AirPortr will deliver any size or weight item of luggage to London Heathrow, London Gatwick and London City Airport with bags checked in from a London address. Prices start from £30 for the first bag from Central London and £10 for each additional bag. The new service can help reduce travel costs and travel times by enabling travellers to use public transport bag free.

Notes to editor:
This transformational travel service, which has been years in the planning, allows passengers to breeze straight through the airport without the need to drop off their bags. The next time passengers see them is at baggage reclaim at their destination airport. Now available to book for travel from 26th October 2016.
AirPortr + Bag Check-In has launched with an exclusive partnership with British Airways and can be pre-booked online with passengers able to select a one hour slot for pick up and providing the option of a same day service. Passengers will need to check in for their flight with British Airways before collection, passports and boarding passes will be verified at the pick-up address. AirPortr then seal the bags in a tamper aware bag to ensure no one can interfere with the luggage. All luggage goes through additional screening prior to arrival at the airport before it is checked-in by AirPortr allowing the passenger to head straight through the airport arrival subject to passport and visa verification requirements. All luggage is tracked and AirPortr also send updates throughout to put the passengers mind at ease and let know that their bags have been checked in. The final step in the journey is for passengers to collect their luggage from baggage reclaim at their final destination.
AirPortr also offer a service for arriving passengers, customers can drop their bags with the AirPortr team in Arrivals when they land, and have it delivered on to their home, office or hotel later that day, leaving them free to make the most of their day.
